✔️ How Humulin 70/30 Cartridge 100 IU works?

Humulin 70/30 Cartridge 100 IU helps your body to make utilize of the circulating blood glucose. It helps in the transport of glucose from the blood into the muscles and fat tissues. It also stops the production of glucose by the liver. As a result, it controls blood sugar levels and improves glycemic control in patients with diabetes mellitus.

✔️ Quick Suggestions:

• Take it 15 minutes before a meal or within 20 minutes after starting a meal.
• Injection below the skin of the abdomen results in faster absorption than other injection sites such as the skin of the upper arms, thighs, or buttocks. After injection, the site of injection should not be massaged.
• Injection sites must be rotated to prevent hard lumps from developing at one site.
• Change to another type or brand of insulin should be done under strict medical supervision as it may require a change in dosage.
• Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) may occur when taken along with other antidiabetic medicines, alcohol, or by delaying/skipping a meal. Carry a sugar source with you for immediate relief.
• Do not share your insulin device with other people, even if the needle has been changed. You may give other people a serious infection or get a serious infection from them.
• Opened vials/cartridges stay good at room temperature for up to 4 weeks, while unopened vials must be placed in the refrigerator  (2°C–8°C)

✔️ Composition

• Isophane Insulin Human 30/70 Injection with Insulin Human (rDNA) USP 40 IU (equal to 1.388 mg) is present in each milliliter of solution as 30% Soluble Insulin Human (Regular) and 70% Isophane Insulin Human.
• Isophane Insulin Human 30/70 Injection with Insulin Human (rDNA) USP 100 IU (equal to 3.47 mg) is present in each milliliter of solution as 30% Soluble Insulin Human (Regular) and 70% Isophane Insulin Human.
• 50/50 Injection of Insulin Human (rDNA) and Isophane Insulin Human (rDNA) USP 100 IU (equal to 3.47 mg) is present in each milliliter of solution as 50% soluble Insulin Human (Regular) and 50% isophane Insulin Human.

✔️ Pharmacology

• Human insulin produced using recombinant DNA technology, known as Insulin Human (rDNA), is structurally identical to natural insulin.
• Insulin controls glucose metabolism by promoting the absorption and use of glucose by the liver, muscles, and fat.
• It promotes glycogenesis and prevents gluconeogenesis, thereby reducing blood sugar levels.
• Insulin human (rDNA) 30/70 and insulin human (rDNA) 50/50 begin to work within 30 minutes after injection, reach peak levels between 2 and 8 hours, and persist for approximately 24 hours.

✔️ Dosage & Administration of Humulin 70/30 Cartridge 100 IU

Dosage:

• For adults (above 18), take 1 injection of Humulin 70/30 100 IU, or as prescribed by the doctor.
• For children (below 17), Humulin 70/30 100 IU 5×3ml Injection is not recommended.
• Subcutaneous Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus: Suggested guidelines for beginning dose:
  • Ketones moderate or less: 0.5 U/kg/day SC
  • Ketones large: 0.7 U/kg/day SC
• Renal impairment: Dose adjustments may be needed.

Administer within 15 minutes before a meal or immediately after a meal.

• Administer subcutaneously in the upper arm, thigh, or abdominal wall. Subcutaneous injection into the abdominal wall results in faster absorption than from other injection sites.

✔️ Interaction

• Oral hypoglycemic agents, MAOIs, nonselective beta-blockers, ACE inhibitors, salicylates, alcohol, anabolic steroids, and sulphonamides may reduce insulin requirements.
• OCs, thiazides, glucocorticoids, thyroid hormones, sympathomimetics, and danazol may increase insulin requirements.
• Octreotide/lanreotide may both decrease and increase insulin requirement.
• Beta-blockers may mask symptoms of hypoglycemia.
• Alcohol may intensify or reduce the hypoglycemic effect of insulin.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

Because insulin cannot cross the placental barrier, there are no limits on using it to treat diabetes during pregnancy. Baby safety is unaffected by the mother's insulin medication.
